4. Hobbies or other personal interest: Bodyboarding, collecting records-from classical to new age to rare and hard to find, planning and organizing events, meeting new people, traveling, continuing to help build "We Are One" A Multi-Creative Group and always trying to keep my family and friends interest and support.
5. History- how you got involved? Why? When? It all started when I was 15 years old. Fall of '85. I was in a Break Dancing group called the MAD MAROCKERS. We would always practice together at my house or another friends. Only, because we were the only two that had linoleum (a slick top surface/fake tile with padding that we used to do spins and stuff). When we had practice sessions everyone would bring tapes of mixed music. Either off the radio, which was difficult, or from our own stereos (tape to tape or turntable to tape). Which where four components built together. Sort of like Fisher Price. Nobody knew how to mix. So, our tapes only had parts of the track cut off. Finally, I took interest in putting music together. A friend gave me an old Pyramid mixer. I used my parent's home stereo. Which had the turntable built-in (records were bigger than the disc plate and it was spring loaded) to the receiver and tape deck. For the other channel we used a Boom Box for awhile, until I found another deck. My first Technics deck. Only one. Used! Technics SL, a belt drive with the fine adjust pitch, +/_ 6%, auto stop. Good enough for me! Then the records. After all that it wasn't until after college I got my first set of Technics 1200. Still using that old Pyramid mixer. It has taken me along way to get where I am. A lot of practice, being schooled and tooling around by teaching myself.
6. Music Interest -Personal preference to what you play: I have a huge interest in a variety of music. From Classical to Electronic. Which my collection consist of. The history of music is also a favorite. Focusing in the Artist/Band relationship and direction. Also the direction of music in general. When I play at a club it's much different than a rave, party or concert events. Applies to all. A Progressively DeepHardFunkyTrance House Beat that has meaning when mixed with clips. Samples of vocals and whatever I can find to heighten an atmosphere.
7. Describe Briefly some of your experiences at a Club, Rave, Concert and/or Tours: I can only remember a few. It was in Toronto, Ontario Canada. The promotional group was U.K. Better Days. Winter of '92. Approximately 8,000-10,000 in attendance. My set was early in the morning. 8:00am! I didn't think that there was going to be anyone there. I had taken a taxi to the venue that morning and saw a line at 7:30am. From the time I walk in to the time I laid my first record. I felt an abundance of energy. To top it off, I was in front of about 5,000 people giving me the best WELCOME BACK. I could hear them chanting. QUIKSILVA!!
